Obituary for Shirley Ann Blake

Shirley Ann Blake
Shirley Ann Blake, 75 of Nobleboro, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2017 at LincolnHealth-Miles Campus in Damariscotta.

Shirley grew up in West Waldoboro and graduated from Waldoboro High School in 1960. As a young adult, she enjoyed dancing tremendously. In high school she was voted “Best Dancer” and met her husband of 54 years, James Blake at a dance at Beaver Lodge. She worked at Medomak Valley High School as a secretary for many years, and eventually retired from T.D. Bank, formerly W.C. Ladd & Sons, after over twenty years as an insurance agent.

She was a 48-year member with Lake View Chapter #179 Order of the Eastern Star and held a life membership there. She also served as Secretary of the Keystone Club, Wiwurna Chapter, and had previously held the position of Worthy Matron for both.

Shirley had many passions. She was an avid reader, and treasured the time she spent with her friends, family, and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling to Florida and the Bahamas, and most recently to Las Vegas, where she proudly visited 27 casinos in seven days. She cherished her time on the water, whether boating or at the family cottage, and enjoyed playing card games on a regular basis.

Shirley is survived by her husband James Blake of Nobleboro, mother Marion Griffin, of Waldoboro, son Michael Blake of Damariscotta, son Scott Blake and partner Wayne Sprague of Windham, and grandchildren Cameron Blake and Brandon Blake of Bristol. She also leaves behind numerous loving extended family and friends.

Visiting hours will be held for family and friends on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 5-7 pm at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main Street, Waldoboro. A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main Street, Waldoboro, Pastor Karen Lilli Pax officiating. There will be an Eastern Star Service on Sunday as part of the service.

The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during the last month. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lake View Chapter #179 OES, c/o Ruth Holden, Secretary, 227 Waldoboro Road, Jefferson, ME 04348.

You are welcome to share condolences with the family at www.hallfuneralhomes.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Hall’s of Waldoboro.
