Obituary for Gary Craig Barter

Gary Craig Barter
Gary Craig Barter,68, of Waldoboro, passed away after a brief illness at his beloved home, on January 16, 2016.

Gary was born in Damariscotta, Maine on July 30, 1947, son of Cecil Barter and Ruby Achorn Barter. He graduated from Waldoboro High School In 1968. During and after high school Gary worked at Crowe Rope and the Shell Station during the evenings. In the early 1980’s Gary went into the carpentry business and retired in 2012.

Gary was an avid boater, always owning a boat. He especially loved boating on Damariscotta Lake. He also enjoyed NASCAR (Dale Earnhardt fan), dancing, going to the Wiscasset race track, snowmobiling and four wheeling with family and friends. Gary was a very outgoing man and enjoyed meeting new people.

He was a great father, working all day and then coming home to take care of his boys while Sharon worked nights.

He is predeceased by his parents; son, Jason Barter, sister Laura Ralph, brother Doug Barter and sister Mickey Ilves.

Gary is survived by his wife Sharon Barter of Waldoboro, special mother-in-law, Joyce McLain, of Waldoboro, son Robert Barter and wife Lorielle of Waldoboro, sister-in-law, Rosie Barter of Warren, granddaughter, Kaitlin Barter of Union, grandson, Gabe Barter of Union, grandson, Dylan Barter of Waldoboro, granddaughter, Lacey Barter of Waldoboro, and close buddies, Tony Lash of Waldoboro and Tommy Hayes of Texas, as well as many other close friends.
