Obituary for
Margaret MacDonald
Margaret Macdonald of Boothbay passed away on Saturday, November 14th after a lengthy illness surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of Frank and Martha Brown. She worked at The Montreal Children's Hospital and The Montreal General Hospital where she was in charge of the tumour registry. She moved to Taunton, Massachusetts in 1969. She worked as a medical receptionist in Foxboro, Massachusetts and in medical records at Sturdy Hospital in Attleboro, Massachusetts. She married her husband in 1977 and lived in Foxboro, Massachusetts. In 1995, she and her husband retired to Boothbay, Maine. She was very involved at the Southport United Methodist Church. She sang in the choir and worked on the woman's missionary committee. She was also a member of the garden club. She was a lifelong dog lover. Her hobbies include cooking,reading,music,knitting, needlework, gardening, and birdwatching. She loved to go shopping with her daughter, granddaughter, and great granddaughter. She was a devoted fan of the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and Bruins.
She was predeceased by a younger sister, Edith Brown, who passed away at an early age.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 38 years, Dr. John B. Macdonald. She is also survived by her daughter, Lida Watters and her husband Bruce of Bennington,Vermont, her son, Alan Kopecky of Taunton, Massachusetts. Her granddaughter, Jessica Kopecky and her fiance Dantes Lanausse and her great-granddaughter,Annalena Lanausse of Swansea,Massachusetts. Her cousins, Mrs. Joan Noonan of Vineland,Ontario,Canada and Stephanie Noonan of Bowmanville,Ontario,Canada. She is also survived by her husbands children, Alexander, Laura, Margaret, Ian, George,Neil and Eric and many grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta and St. Andrews Village in Boothbay Harbor for their outstanding care for her.
A service to celebrate Margaret's life will be held 11 a.m. November 17th at the Southport United Methodist Church with Pastor Ami Sawtelle and Desmond Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the Sprucelawn Cemetery in Southport.
