Obituary for
Michael Kevin "Mike" Keegan
Michael K. Keegan, 66, a resident of Boothbay Harbor, ME and a former resident of Wappingers Falls, NY, and lifetime resident of Saltaire, New York, died peacefully on June 23, 2014 in Islip, NY. He was born October 29, 1947 in Queens, NY, the only son of Thomas P. Keegan and Anne Coffey Keegan.
Mike, as he was known, was a proud Vietnam Veteran serving in the United States Marine Corp.. He proudly served his country and was awarded several Medals of Honor for his exemplary service. He was an active member of Our Lady Queen of Peace, Boothbay Harbor, a member of the Knights of Columbus and GW Hudson Council. He was a graduate of Mercy College and had a life-time business career as a systems analyst for AT&T.
Mike loved life, his family and friends. He enjoyed reading and was an avid sports fan, and never lost his New York roots, cheering on the Rangers, Mets and Giants. He particularly enjoyed spending time at the family home in Saltaire, NY with his lively, large extended family. He was a gentle giant who walked softly with a big heart. Mike was well known and appreciated for his many caring ways throughout West Boothbay Harbor during his time working at the Post Office. He will be well remembered and very missed.

He was the much-loved husband of Ellen Niewiadomski who predeceased him in 2011. He was also predeceased by his father, Thomas Keegan.

He was also the good humored “Uncle Hot Dog” to nieces and nephews too numerous to list.
Friends may visit with the family at Simmons, Harrington and Hall Funeral Home, 975 Wiscasset Road, Boothbay, on Monday June 30th, from 2-4 pm and 6-8pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. July 1st at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Boothbay Harbor, with a Burial Service with Military Honors, at Evergreen Cemetery, Boothbay, ME. There will a reception immediately following the interment at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Boothbay Harbor, Maine.
