Obituary for Phyllis L. Moir

Phyllis Louise Moir, 88, of Warren, Maine, passed away on November 18, 2019, at the Sussman House in Rockport, Maine, with her family by her side.

Phyllis was born on November 23, 1930 in Rockland, Maine to Clarence B. Tolman and Margaret (Montgomery) Tolman.

She grew up in Warren and attended the Warren Anderson School and Warren High School. She was a member of the Grange during her youth. She then went on to Husson College and obtained her Degree. After college, before returning to Warren, she lived in Washington, DC, Nashville and Los Angeles, CA.
Phyllis worked at GTE Sylvania in Waldoboro for over 30 years, retiring in the early 90’s. She travelled extensively throughout North America and Canada, visiting 49 states and all the Canadian provinces and territories.

She enjoyed crewel embroidery, gardening and reading. She was a cute, gentle, out-going, woman, who loved her hats, and loved talking with people. She was a self sufficient lady, who was very proud to mow her own lawn.

Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, brothers Lewis, Wesley, Eugene, Edrick, Wilbur, Baxter, Curtis Tolman, and sisters Esther Wotton and Nathalie Dow.

She is survived by her son Clarence (Spady) Moir of Washington; daughter Elaine Moir of Warren; grandsons Christopher and Jeremy Moir of Georgia; grandson Grant Moir-Brandow and wife Damla of San Diego, CA; great grandchildren Andrew, Caitlin and Tallulah Moir of Georgia.

The family will hold a private burial in the spring.
