Obituary for Barbara Frances Stanley
Barbara Frances Stanley, 92 of Monhegan, passed away at the Sussman House in Rockport on the morning of May 12, 2020.
Barbara was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 12, 1927, the daughter of James Mendolia and Caroline (Kalbacher) Mendolia.
She grew up in Manhattan and attended local schools. She married Sherman M. Stanley on September 28, 1946, and was married 72 years until Sherm’s passing in 2019. She was a homemaker, caring for her two children. She was an excellent housewife, making children’s clothes, especially lovely dresses for her daughter. She was a loving mother. She also enjoyed knitting, needle point and used to paint with water colors. She was a member of the Black Duck Knitters Circle and a member of the Monhegan Church.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents, her husband Sherman M. Stanely.
She is survived by her son, Sherman D. Stanley of Monhegan, daughter Caroline Sutherland of Camden, grandchildren Dwight P. Stanley of Cumberland, Adair Bell of South Carolina and Sam Sutherland of New York, and great grandchild Caden Bell of South Carolina.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
