Obituary for James "Jay" Lincoln Jones

Print
James “Jay” Lincoln Jones, 64 passed away on Thursday , November 22, 2018 in Portland , Maine with his loving family by his side. Jay (as he liked to be called) was born in Winsted, CT. on April 5, 1954 to parents John Jones and Carol Dudley Jones.

Jay attended schools in Connecticut and after graduation he chose to travel . He went to California and eventually came to Maine where he settled and raised his family. Never one to sit idle Jay found work as a mussel harvester, a painter, a laborer and most of all he was a seasoned carpenter. He was always striving for perfection in his carpentry skills and never settled for average- it had to be Right!

Jay was an avid reader and some of his favorite pastimes were watching old movies, playing horseshoes, golfing, and above all else he loved fishing and rooting for his beloved Patriots Football Team. Jay also enjoyed talking politics, being outdoors camping, and for those who got to view his flowers was his rock garden that he worked so tirelessly on each season.

His family recalls him as being a little on the stubborn side, and a little cantankerous, but was really a sweet soul, often seen as quiet and reserved.

Jay was pre-deceased by his parents, his brother Keenan Jones, his sister Katie Bradshaw and a step-brother Kent.
Left to cherish Jay’s memory is his partner of 27 years- Bernice “Bunny’ Gieseman of Warren, ME, his Sons- Jonathan Jones, James Jones, and Jason Jones all of Waldoboro, ME. His daughter Katherine “Bobbi-Jo” Jones of Waldoboro, ME. as well as his sister Jenny Jones of Colorado and a step sister Alison Andrade of Washington, ME. along with half brothers Chris Gainley of CT. and Jeff Roberts of FLA. Jay also had a special “Aunt Barb” who he fondly referred to as his second mom. He is also survived by Bunnies children- Tammy Smith of Rockland, ME, Tina Gieseman and her partner Isaac Rhode of Rockland, ME and Tracy Mills and husband Chris of Warren, ME. He had the pleasure of being grampy to 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild along with many nieces, nephews and many friends.

A quote from Jay's grandfather that always meant something to him...
"Put a smile on your face. Pack on your back, chin up..
Chest out, onward and upward"..

Jay’s wishes were that he be cremated and a memorial service be held in the Spring of 2019 at he and Bunnie’s home in Warren, ME. Date and Times will be announced.

Hall’s of Thomaston has care of the arrangements. To extend online condolences please visit www.hallfuneralhomes.com.
