Obituary for Lauren Wayne Ruybal

Lauren Wayne  Ruybal
Lauren Wayne Ruybal, 70, of Waldoboro, passed away peacefully at Togus Springs in Augusta with his family present. He was born in Monte Vista, Colorado on June 8th, 1947, son of Juan and Lupita Ruybal.

Lauren graduated from Balbora High School in San Francisco, CA. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Oklahoma and Bangor. He did his electronics studies at Devry Institute of Chicago. He had two businesses, Thomaston Electronics in Thomaston and Salt Bay Electronics in Damariscotta. After he retired from his business he went lobstering with his son Derek for two years.

He was a member of the Waldoboro Snow Crawlers and was a past president, a member of the American Legion Post #0149 of Waldoboro and past commander and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Newcastle where he held the position of Grand Knight and was also a fourth degree Knight of Bath.

Lauren enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great granddaughter at the condo in New Hampshire going to water parks and looking for rocks in the Saco River. He also enjoyed camping and fishing up north, snowmobiling all over the state, bow hunting, and attending basketball games at Medomak Valley.

He was predeceased by his parents and brother John Ruybal. Lauren is survived by his wife of 49 years Carol Ruybal of Waldoboro, daughters Susan Simmons and husband Darren of Friendship, Lynn Sproul and husband Kevin of Waldoboro, son Derek Ruybal of Friendship, granddaughters Kristen Simmons of Friendship, Sierra Sproul and companion of Austin Owen of Washington, Autumn Sproul of Waldoboro, great granddaughter Ava Owen of Washington and several nieces and nephews.

A private burial will take place at the Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.

Lauren loved animals and the family requests that donations may be made in his name to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 7, Edgecomb, Maine 04556.
