Obituary for Peter Wesley Douglas

Peter Wesley Douglas, 87 of Waldoboro, passed away on November 23, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 13, 1930 in Bar Harbor, Maine to Alton Douglas and Irene Emma (Stewart) Douglas.

Peter grew up in Bar Harbor and graduated from Bar Harbor High School. He then attended the University of Maine at Orono and obtained an engineering degree.

He worked as an electrical engineer in Kittery at the Naval Shipyard, then at VAST in Waldoboro and VAST in South Bristol. He was also a loan officer at the Waldoboro Savings and Loan until he retired in July 1986.

Peter volunteered for the Coast Guard in Rockland. He was a ham radio operator “N1DH0”. He was a member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (IEEE), and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in North Waldoboro.

Peter is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marlene Douglas of Waldoboro, son Allan Douglas and wife Hannah of Tyngsboro, MA, son Michael Douglas and wife Ruth of Louisville, KY, daughter Leandrea McKinney and fiancé William Monahan of Springfield, MA, brother Paul Douglas of Melbourne, FL and Bar Harbor, ME, grandchildren Mark Douglas of Melrose, MA, Melissa Ehle of Friendship, ME, Heather Douglas of Tyngsboro, MA, Andrew Douglas of Houston, TX, Benjamin Douglas and Christopher Douglas of Louisville, KY, Breanna McKinney of Chicopee, MA , Tanner McKinney of Chicopee, MA, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main Street, Waldoboro. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main Street, Waldoboro, Reverend Mark Holden officiating. Interment will be at Shuman Cemetery in Waldoboro.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peter’s name to the North Waldoboro Church of the Nazarene, 1640 Old Augusta Road, Waldoboro, Maine 04572.
