Maynard R. Tomer, 76, died October 18, 2017 at his home in Waldoboro. He was born August 6, 1941 in Boothbay Harbor, ME., to Levi and Doris Robinson Tomer. Maynard grew up in Boothbay Harbor and graduated from Boothbay Harbor High School. He attended Brown University and graduated from University of Maine at Orono with a BS in Mathematics. He earned his masters degree in Physics from the University of Arizona.

He was a published author of several mathematic books. He later worked as a general laborer. He built his own garage and several other buildings over the years. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed visiting friends and family.

He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Lee Tomer, and by a sister Florence.

He is survived by three sisters; Nora Brewer of Southport, Maine, Carla Perry of Pennsylvania, and Jean Wickham of Oregon, and several nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Maynard's life will be held at a later date.
