Obituary for Arthur Elmer Sevon

Arthur Elmer Sevon

Thomaston’s Wadsworth Street lifelong resident, Arthur Elmer Sevon, 88, passed away in the home that he grew up in and had never left until the morning of September 27, 2017 with his loving family by his side. Arthur was born in Thomaston, Maine on May 18th, 1929 to parents Elmer and Virginia ( Mank) Sevon.

Arthur attended local schools and chose to enter the work force at a young age working for Dunn & Elliot Coal, as a general laborer. He also worked at Morses Boat Building, Great Eastern Mussel Farms. He also had his own small business- Art’s Small Engine repair that he ran out of his home for many years.

One of Arts favorite past times was listening to Hawaiian Music played by Steel Guitarist Jerry Byrd, He also enjoyed playing his own Ukulele and after a hard day at work he took great pleasure in watching “good old fashioned” Western Movies. In his later years he took enjoyment in watching the new reality shows – especially “Ice Road Truckers”, and "Alaskan Bush".

Left to cherish Art’s memory is his loving wife of 40 years Edith of Thomaston, ME, his daughter Jeanie Sevon of Sedona, AZ, his son Jonathan Sevon of Friendship, ME. along with his Grand-children Jason Weber of Rimrock, AZ, Ethan Reed, Olivia Sevon, and Rourke Sevon all of Friendship, Me. Art is also survived by extended family members, several nieces, nephews and many, many friends.

It was Art’s wishes that no formal funeral services be held. He asked that he be cremated and his ashes scattered in in a place that gave him many fond memories of as a young man, diving off the top of the old Thomaston bridge into the The St. George River with many of his longtime buddies. His family will honor his wishes at a time convenient to them.
