Joseph S. O’Grady, Jr., 77, of Waldoboro, passed away on May 12, 2017 at his home. JR was born on March 6, 1940 and was the son of the late Joseph S. O'Grady and Ellen (Coleman) O'Grady. After graduating high school and then he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served from 1958 until 1961.

After the service JR was a self employed welder and worked with sheet metal and duct work.

JR was an avid fisherman, he loved hunting deer, geese, and duck, loved relaxing with his family and friends and having a “warm” beer. He enjoyed camping and cookouts with his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

JR was survived by his loving wife and best friend of 47 years, Norma O’Grady of Nobleboro, brother Thomas O’Grady and spouse Sandy, of Punta Gorda, FL, niece Jana O’Grady of Virginia, step-son Albert Greenleaf and spouse Barbara of Westport Island, ME, best friend Steven D. Thompson, Sr. and spouse Kimberly of Warren, ME, grandson Steven D. Thompson, Jr. and spouse Brenda of Friendship, ME, great grandson Steven D. Thompson III of Friendship, ME, granddaughters Christy Thompson and spouse Donald Beeton of Waldoboro, ME, Miranda Lindsey of Wiscasset, ME, Samantha Schaafsma and spouse Will of California, great granddaughter Jessica Sykes-Brunick and spouse Chaz of Waldoboro, ME, great-great granddaughter Aubrey Brunick of Waldoboro, ME, two great-great grandsons Jake and Matt Schaafsma of California and many cousins and friends of Maryland.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main Street, in Waldoboro from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m., immediately followed by a reception at Joseph’s home at 750 Dutch Neck Road in Waldoboro.
