Obituary for Bruce C. Winchenbach

Bruce C. Winchenbach
Bruce C. Winchenbach, 68, of Waldoboro, passed away unexpectedly on May 3, 2017 in Ohio. Bruce was born on December 10, 1948 and was the son of the late Robert L. and Flora (Pikkarainen) Winchenbach. Bruce was a graduate of Camden High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy after graduating and proudly served during the Vietnam War from 1968 until 1972. He was recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze star on his bar.

After serving his country he was employed as a Sergeant for the Maine State Prison for 13 years. He also worked as a truck driver for 20 years for the Bisson Moving & Storage Company and most recently drove for Northeast Trucking Company for the past 9 years. Bruce continuously collected numerous safe driving awards for driving throughout his 30-plus year career on the road.

In his spare time he liked camping, boating, coin collecting and had an extensive collection of Nascar model cars. He was an avid Patriots, Red Sox and Nascar fan. Above all he loved spoiling his grandchildren in ways that a grandparent does. Bruce relished in providing for his family and can be best described as a “happy-go-lucky” kind of guy.

In addition to his loving wife of 43 years, Lori (Jackson) Winchenbach, of Waldoboro, he is survived by his three children, Bruce A. Winchenbach and his fiancée, Lauren Alkire of Crested Butte, CO, Robert M. Winchenbach and his wife, Amanda of Troy and Timothy S. Winchenbach and his wife, Christy of Washington; Four grandchildren, Dakota & Alyie Sprague and Julia & Nathan Winchenbach; two great-grandchildren, Emma Elwell and Zayden Farley; his siblings, Elaine Burge of Winthrop, Steven Winchenbach of Auburn and Linda Grant of Warren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Cheryl Reed of Mechanic Falls.

A funeral service for Bruce will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main Street in Waldoboro at 2 P.M. Interment will follow in the West Rockport Cemetery on Park Street in Rockport. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend and/or join the family for a celebration of life at Bruce and Lori’s home after the interment.
