Obituary for Douglas E. Peaslee,Sr.

Douglas E.  Peaslee,Sr.
Douglas E. Peaslee,Sr., 86, of Jefferson died September 23, 2016 in Jefferson at his daughter Shirley’s home, where he was surrounded by family. Douglas was born April 13, 1930 in Somerville to Guy and Leola Benner Peaslee. Douglas grew up in Somerville and attended local schools. He started working in the woods at the age of thirteen.

He worked hard all his life working in the woods, growing and harvesting Christmas trees. He also was a school bus driver, D.O.T. driver, and worked at the Dragon Cement Plant in Thomaston. He owned and operated Douglas Peaslee & Son’s Trucking Loam and Gravel for many years until he retired.

He was the road commissioner for the town of Jefferson for over 30 years. He was always busy working, and bartering to help others. He was a loyal, trustworthy and dependable person. His wife, Shirley, was the center of his world along with his children and grandchildren. He loved to go hunting and fishing so that he could provide food for his family through the long Maine winters. He will be missed by his family and friends. He was predeceased by two sons, Elbridge and Dennis Peaslee.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley Peaslee of Jefferson; Children, Douglas Peaslee, Jr. and his wife Teri of Jefferson; Delma Lee and her husband Tom of Jefferson; Shirley St. Pierre of Jefferson; Roland Peaslee, Sr. and his wife Patricia of Jefferson; Kathy Peaslee of Jefferson; Susan Peaslee and her companion Daniel Achorn of Jefferson; Brothers, Lawrence Peaslee of Edgecomb and Guy Peaslee, Jr. of Boothbay; Sisters, Myra Cook of Florida; Evelyn Gaboury of Chelsea and Marion Asdot of Wiscasset;

Grandchildren, Eric Morton, Corey St. Pierre, Nathan Lee, Roland Peaslee,Jr., Danyl St. Pierre Williams, Joshua Peaslee, Amanda Peaslee, Luke Peaslee, Jessica Peaslee, Dylan Peaslee, Dalton Peaslee, Jordan Achorn, Miranda and Morgan Achorn, Jazmine Audet, and Samantha Scofield.

Great grandchildren, Ethan Williams, Madison Dodge, Gavan Williams, Marissa Dodge, Kylie Lee, Abigail Morton, Chase Peaslee, Piper Peaslee, Marley Peaslee, Alpla Williams III, Canyon Peaslee, Mariah Achorn, Jacobi Peaslee, Tessa Williams, Makyla Dodge, Brantley Benner, Dylan Peaslee,Jr., and Willow Peaslee.

Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. September 27th with a time of sharing memories at 7 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main Street, Waldoboro. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. September 29th at the Fairview Cemetery, Route 126, in Jefferson with Pastor Rick Newell officiating.

There will be a family gathering at the home of Douglas Peaslee, Sr., 49 Valley Road, Jefferson after the graveside service.
