Obituary for Arnold Henry "Arne" Johnsen

Arnold Henry "Arne" Johnsen
Arnold Henry Johnsen, 80, a resident of Edgecomb, Maine for the last 25 years, died suddenly on March 25, 2016 at home. Arne was born September 29, 1935 at the Lutheran Medical Center in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn to his parents, Arthur Johnsen and Harriet (Nelsen) Johnsen and was their eldest child. He graduated from Port Richmond High School, Class of 1953.

Arne served in the Army National guard from 1952 until the birth of his first son, Eric in 1959. He retired from the Port Authority of New York/New Jersey after 25 years of service in 1990. Arne would have celebrated his 59th wedding anniversary on April 13th with his beloved wife, Carol (Thompson) Johnsen. Arne enjoyed watching the NFL, Nascar and American Pickers. He would often be found at the Montsweag Flea Market and other flea markets buying or selling items. He was the lone craftsman for his business “Silver Wonders,” specializing in making wind chimes from silver plate flatware.

Arne is survived by his wife, Carol, his brother, Roy Johnsen and his wife, Melody of Forked River, New Jersey, son, Eric Johnsen of Edgecomb, his son, Alan Johnsen and his wife, Denise of Staten Island, son, Scott Johnsen and his wife, Eileen of Old Bridge, New Jersey, and son Glen Johnsen and his wife, Maria of South Portland. Arne is also survived by his six grandchildren, Scott, Kerri, Kaitlyn, Megan, Christina and Candace and one great granddaughter, Cayla. He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Harriet Johnsen.

The family would like to thank the efforts of the first responders, ambulance service and emergency room staff of Miles Memorial Hospital for their efforts, as well as the assistance of Charlie Banfield who was with the family at the time this occurred.

Arne’s life will be celebrated by family and friends on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Hall’s of Boothbay, 975 Wiscasset Road, Boothbay, Maine, with visitation from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., with a service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Kate Pinkham will be officiating.
